An example of my flappy bird game, showing my coding.
created by me, Anna

Here is Flappy Bird, a popular game that can be used as a coding project for beginners interested in game development. It was reasonably easy to get started, on the top o the coding box there is a yellow bird, and that bird offers instructions and hints in order to get to the next level. It starts out very basic with just giving 2 or so commands to play with, and as the game levels increase, the player receives more commands to be able to play with. While there are lots of different options on how to play this game, it’s important to follow what the helpful yellow bird is telling you, in order to move to the next round. Once finished Flappy Bird will give the player a certificate of completion. Heres mine:

This would be great to use for students who want to learn how to code and give some sort of recognition to the teacher on how the student did.

The only issue with using this game is that there could be some students who do not find this enjoyable, it relies on students’ reading and comprehension levels to be at a specific level and so there could be many students needing extra help, which could be taxing on the educators.

While there is that one issue stated above, I have indeed, seen this program being used in a grade 7 classroom before, there was plenty of confusion, but many students loved it and enjoyed the idea of being able to code and play games in class.

I would recommend this game to other educators for the purposes of coding, computation, and math

Anyways until next time!
