Well after recently booking my accommodation in Arusha, I have officially finished all my trip planning. I will be getting my vaccinations/travel medications soon, as well as my travel insurance.
My official route for my trip is:
Arrive in Dar es Salaam, fly to Arusha, start my safari (I chose Golden Dreams Safari Company, hopefully, it works out!), then back to Arusha before flying to my final destination of Zanzibar.
Accommodation
I booked most of my accommodation via booking.com and Airbnb. For decent accommodation prices ranged from $70-$200 CDN per night in all the major cities.
My packing list must-haves:
*note, I’m aiming for carry-on!
- neutral coloured clothing
- warmer jacket
- fleece sweater
- rain jacket
- long sleeve button down shirt
- long skirts (fairly conservative country, especially towards women)
- for comfortable versatile shoes, I’m bringing one pair of Birks, Blundstones, and runners.
- quick dry clothing
- heavy-duty bug spray
- swimwear
- sarong
- day pack
- sunscreen
Flights
We will be purchasing flights when in Tanzania, we heard from a tour guide that buying flights is like buying a bus ticket. On the day you intend to travel, you go to the airport and purchase your tickets. It also ends up being cheaper to book with local airlines, like Air Tanzania.
Final reflection on this project
When reflecting on my free inquiry blog, I realized I’m really happy regarding my topic choice, and how all my posts went. I found that writing about my trip to Tanzania forced me to plan and prepare more than I usually do for my vacations, which was helpful for going somewhere completely new to me. Even though I had some anxiety about the trip, breaking it down into specific blog posts allowed me to gather information on Tanzania week by week, making it feel less overwhelming. I also appreciated that my topic was relatively easy to complete quickly and it didn’t require too much effort during my busy weeks at school. I can see now that If I had gone with some of my other free-inquiry ideas they may have been much more time-consuming, resulting in the potential for me to fall behind in my posts. Overall, I really enjoyed this assignment, and am content with the way that everything unfolded.
Thanks for stopping by,
as always, hope my tip, tricks and advice can be helpful,
-Miss Mac xx
